RoHS-/lead-free declaration
The following information aims at notifying our clients about the status of the implementation and giving an outlook of the further development. We are trying to realize the implementation of the lead-free and RoHS-compatibility of KHATOD OPTOELECTRONIC products asap, i.e. significantly earlier than legal deadlines of implementation demand - according to national legislation the latest July 2006. Today already we are able to provide several lead-free and also RoHS compliant products thanks to the early action undertaken by responsible positions. To understand terminology and the schedule better, we want to look at the topic of "lead-free, RoHS-conformity and flame retardants" from the definition point of view and the implementation schedule.
Lead-free
A few of our clients regard wiring technology primarily, others the capability of manufacture by means of higher temperatures. We can assure our clients that the majority of our products to be considered in this context are processable trouble-free at peak temperatures of 265°C 5s and 180°C over 70s and have been so for several years. The KHATOD OPTOELECTRONIC group has favored top quality materials very early already thus being able to revert to many years of experience. There are a few exceptions, however, which tolerate a lower peak. They are described as to their deviating technical specifications in our catalog. In this context we would like to refer to the much diversified techniques of soldering that allow also for a "lead-free" solderability in addition to the positioning of the component on the printed circuit board as well as the employed velocity and temperature. The experience and tests of our customers are expedient and decisive herewith. Thus no limitations or alterations in the usage of our components should result from the change-over or mixed disposition of plumbiferous and lead-free components whilst the process of change-over to lead-free soldering.
Flame-retardant EU directive
In this subject matter too, we can confirm that no illegal materials are employed thus being able to warrant conformity with EU directive 2003/11/EG. Penta- and Octa-BDE materials often mentioned by clients are important in this context.
RoHS-conformity / WEEE directive
The terminology comprises amongst others the area of materials such as "quicksilver, cadmium, hexavalent chrome and lead". RoHS-conformity thus compliance with EU directives 2002/95/EG and 2002/96/EG can be reassured here too taking into account the schedule of change-over to "lead-free". Consequently, this aspect provides the basis for the schedule of the entire RoHS-conformity.
EU directive "old car directive"
The directive 2000/53/EG can also be confirmed as from today's point of view.
Change-over and availability of "lead-free and RoHS-conform" products
As a result we can say that we started the change-over "lead-free and RoHS-conformity" a long time ago already. Particular articles are already available "lead-free" thus RoHS-conform.We would like to inform our customers that we will empty our storehouses according to the "first in - first out" principle and kindly request to consider this while it will be impossible for us to tell the exact date of availability of each [single] component. Putting up customer specific tables will also be impossible due to organisational effort not manageable. Notification of already available products is possible but subject to daily changes. We kindly ask for the customer's understanding!
Acknowledgement
We hope to lay the basis necessary and also requested by providing this additional information for the time of the change-over. We will definitely strive for more precision of the roadmap by communicating with our suppliers. In this context we would like to thank for the active support of many of our suppliers as well as for our customer's understanding in the period of the implementation of these EU directives.
